Level 1 - BeginnerThis song is great for the beginning soprano recorder student. It consists only of 3 notes (b, a, g).The text underlay will help the player to figure out the rhythm. Simple rhythms of quarter notes and half notes are used.Breath marks indicate where best to take a breath. This aides in beautiful tone and phrasing. These songs can also be used for violin, flute, oboe, clarinet, or saxophone.


Level 1a - BeginnerThis song is great for the beginning soprano recorder student. It consists only of 5 notes (g, a, b, c, d).The text underlay will help the player to figure out the rhythm. Simple rhythms of quarter notes and half notes are used. 4/4 meterBreath marks indicate where best to take a breath. This aides in beautiful tone and phrasing.This song can also be used for violin, flute, oboe, clarinet, or saxophone.Level 1b - BeginnerThis song is great for the beginning soprano recorder student. Its range goes from the low “d” to the middle “d”. But unlike levels 1 and 1a, in this song you will find a b-flat or an f-sharp.The text underlay will help the player to figure out the rhythm. Simple rhythms of quarter notes and half notes are used. 4/4 meterBreath marks indicate where best to take a breath. This aides in beautiful tone and phrasing.This song can also be used for violin, flute, oboe, clarinet, or saxophone.

Level 1c - BeginnerThis song is great for the beginning soprano recorder student. It consists of notes from low “c” to the high “a”. Accidentals such as f-sharp of b-flat might be used.The text underlay will help the player to figure out the rhythm. Rhythms are getting more complex and include dotted rhythms, eights, quarter, half, whole note. 4/4 meterBreath marks indicate where best to take a breath. This aides in beautiful tone and phrasing.This song can also be used for violin, flute, oboe, clarinet, or saxophone.Level 2 - Pre-IntermediateThis piece is great for a recorder player that has progressed to the pre-intermediate level. This level is for those that are ready to play with other recorder players. You will find pieces for 2, 3, and 4 recorders of varying sizes, but every piece has a soprano part (F-fingerings not required).Pieces in the Level 2 category will have up to 2 sharps or flats.The rhythms are getting a bit more complex. These are instrumental pieces, so there won’t be any text underlay.Breath marks are included to aid in musical expression and better phrasing.These pieces can also be used for violin, flute, oboe, clarinet, or saxophone.Level 3 - IntermediatePieces in this category (Level 3) have rhythms consisting of dotted and syncopated rhythms, with sixteenth, eights, quarter, half, and whole notes.  It is assumed that the players can play in keys of 3 flats or sharps.Pieces can have more than one part for you to enjoy ensemble playing. Not all pieces have a soprano part. That means that you have to be familiar with f-fingerings.Keys: up to 4 sharps or flatsInstrumentation: soprano, alto, tenor, bassPages: score, 3 pages 



Level 3a - Advanced IntermediatePieces in this category (Level 3a) have rhythms consisting of dotted and syncopated rhythms, with sixteenth, eights, quarter, half, and whole notes. Tempi are faster than Level 3. Notes in the highest register appear more frequently.It is assumed that the players can play in keys of 4 flats or sharps.Pieces can have more than one part for you to enjoy ensemble playing. Not all pieces have a soprano part. That means that you have to be familiar with f-fingerings.Keys: up to 4 sharps or flatsInstrumentation: soprano, alto, tenor, bassPages: score, 3 pagesLevel 4 - AdvancedPieces in this category have complicated rhythms in faster speeds and can be in all keys and have all accidentals.  Players should be confident with the notes in the high register, be able to use versatile articulation, and have mastered the ability to play soprano, alto, tenor, and bass recorders. Key: all keysInstrumentation: soprano, alto, tenor, bass and varying combinations thereofPages: scores, and parts of multiple pages
